Where Would We Be Without Roads?

We literally use a road every day. Maybe we get a chance once in a blue moon to stay at home for the day and not have to venture out, but 99 percent of the time, we are hitting the asphalt each and every day—whether it is to go to work, drop the kids off at school, run errands, etc. Most of us probably don’t even have one thought about the road—other than praying that there is no traffic awaiting us—while we are on it. But, if you can take a moment now to wonder, where in the world would we be without our roads?

The Road Always Traveled

We have a tendency as humans to take for granted things that are always available to us: water, air, roads, etc. Believe it or not, there was a time where there were no roads. Only dirt and grass were the available foundations to travel on. Fortunately for us, we do have roads by which to travel, which help us to not only get from one place to another, but are also a huge part of our economy—assisting us in receiving shipments of demand (food, clothing, etc.), as well as helping us to build our monetary nest egg by enabling us to supply our buyers adequately.

In order for our country to continue to develop and grow, transportation is a need we have to fulfill in order to meet our supply and demand needs—as mentioned above—which is why it is vital we take care of our roads. Every pothole we cross, every crack in the foundation, can lead to one big hindrance in our transportation system—and, in turn, in our economy.

So, let’s work hard to appreciate our roads and care for them so that our transportation system can continue to run smoothly—for everyone’s benefit! Plus, do you really want to walk through a field or two in order to drop off/pick up your kid at school? Neither do we!
