What You Need to Do to Maintain Motivation | Wright Brothers Contracting

The team at Wright Brothers Contracting understands how hard it can be sometimes to stay motivated on long-term projects. But no matter how short or long a project might be, it’s important to maintain a team that is both focused and motivated to get the job done!

Working in an Effective and Efficient Manner

First, don’t get caught up in the details. While details are important, it is vital to remember that other aspects of the project need just as much attention as the details. Instead, handle the details as a team.

Make sure that one person is able to focus on the tasks, another one can concentrate on due dates, the next person can tackle how much lumber is needed on a job site and so on. If you take on all the details by yourself, you will get crushed by them. Instead, have your team help you with the details so that everyone has a role in the bigger picture.

Second, when you feel as though you’re losing your drive, remember why you are doing the project in the first place. Traffic will flow better from Chattanooga to Atlanta. Another airport means more business and revenue in our area. A new bridge means that there is another route for people to take when traffic is backed up on I-75. There are many “whys” to a project. Remember them in order to keep your motivation going.

Finally, don’t forget to set milestones—and celebrate those milestones once achieved. If you wait to celebrate from start to finish, you might lose sight somewhere in the middle of what you were aiming for in the first place. But if you celebrate the little victories along the way, then the bigger victory won’t seem that far away.
