It's a Wrap for 2016
A new year equals a new start. That is, unless you have unfinished business from one year follow you into the next. Don’t let this happen—work to put the finishing touches on any current project before the new year arrives.
Mark the Project as Complete!
The year’s almost over, but there’s still plenty of time to close out current projects without sacrificing quality. All you need is a plan in place.
First, look at what you have left to do. Group everything you have left into mini-tasks that need to be completed on a daily and weekly basis. This way, you can see a lot of progress being made in a short amount of time, allowing you and your team to gain the motivation and speed to move from one task to the next.
Second, take away the distractions. You want to be a part of all of the holiday cheer, and you have more than you need on your personal list of things to do. However, do what you can to make those needs wait until after work, so that while you’re at work, you’re solely focused on work. By eliminating the distractions, you can better focus on the task at hand and work efficiently enough to get the job done.
Finally, don’t be afraid to ask for help. Can one team sacrifice a member to come help another group? Can one project wait a week to be completed while another can’t? By working as a team, you can complete the project better and faster than working alone! Plus, who wants to be by themselves during the holidays?
