Yes, all projects will have their obstacles. But there are some ways to help keep those obstacles from tripping you up, including:

For starters, don’t just throw money at the problem. It’s true when they say, “Money doesn’t solve all problems.” You can’t lose sight of the goal. You must stay focused and power through in order to get the job done and overcome the hurdles that come along for the ride.

Second, don’t just focus on cost and cut corners as a result. Instead, make quality the focus! You should never have the attitude of, “Let’s just get the job done.” Instead, you should have the mindset of building upon your client’s trust of you and your abilities and focusing on giving your client the best product possible, no matter how much time it takes. If you’re going to do anything, do it right.

In addition, don’t become complacent. Strive to always continue to learn and grow—both individually and as a team. Gain a better understanding of how to avoid repeating mistakes and, instead, learn from them and move forward. Also, don’t be scared to critique yourself and your team to help see how you can improve and expand your skills, as well as build upon your success now and in the future.

Finally, appreciate the team working for you. Don’t run them into the ground. Give to them as much as you get from them. Show them the gratitude and appreciation they deserve, and they will—in return—give you the 100-percent effort you desire from them. Remember, there is no “I” in team!
